Frequently Asked Question

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Many people begin therapy because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they want to live. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or a major life transition, therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand yourself, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

What concerns do you help with?

Our therapists work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • Depression

  • Relationship challenges

  • Life transitions

  • Self-esteem and identity concerns

  • Trauma

  • Eating disorders and body image concerns

  • Perfectionism

  • Women's mental health

  • College student and young professional concerns

  • Pregnancy, postpartum, and new parent adjustment

  • Grief and loss

  • Men’s mental health

If you're unsure whether your concerns are a good fit for our practice, we'd be happy to discuss your needs during a consultation.

What is your approach to therapy?

Our approach is warm, collaborative, and relational. We believe that meaningful change happens when you feel understood, supported, and safe enough to explore your experiences openly.

Our therapists draw from evidence-based approaches, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed care. Every treatment plan is tailored to your unique goals and needs.

What happens during the first session?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your personal history, and talk about your goals. There is no expectation that you'll have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we'll determine the best path forward.

How often should I attend therapy?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic relationship. As therapy progresses, the frequency of sessions may change based on your needs and goals.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. We offer secure virtual therapy for clients throughout New York, New Jersey, and Florida.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

Yes. We offer in-person therapy at our Manhattan office:

85 Fifth Avenue, Suite 908
New York, NY 10003

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. All of our therapists are in-network with Cigna.

If you have a different insurance plan, our practice is considered out-of-network. As a courtesy to our clients, we submit out-of-network claims directly to your insurance company on your behalf. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement for a portion of your therapy costs.

If you're unsure about your insurance coverage or out-of-network benefits, we're happy to help you understand your options before your first appointment.

How much does therapy cost?

Session fees vary depending on the therapist you work with. We are happy to discuss current rates during your consultation and help you determine whether you have out-of-network benefits that may offset the cost of therapy.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy is a highly individualized process. Some clients attend therapy for several months to work through a specific challenge, while others choose longer-term therapy to deepen self-understanding, strengthen relationships, and support ongoing personal growth. Together, we'll regularly evaluate your goals and adjust treatment as your needs evolve.

I've never been to therapy before. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many of our clients are beginning therapy for the first time. It's completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. Your therapist will guide you through the process at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

Finding the right therapist is important, and we're here to help. During your consultation, we'll learn more about what you're looking for and match you with the therapist whose experience, personality, and approach best fit your needs.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions designed to protect your safety or the safety of others. Your therapist will review confidentiality and answer any questions during your first session.

Can therapy help if I don't know exactly what's wrong?

Yes. Many people come to therapy with a general sense that something doesn't feel right. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, or simply unlike yourself. You don't need to have a specific diagnosis or clear explanation to begin therapy. Part of the therapeutic process is making sense of what you're experiencing together.

What if I don't feel comfortable opening up right away?

That's completely normal. Trust develops over time, and there is no expectation that you'll share everything during your first session. Therapy is a collaborative relationship, and your therapist will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
